I have a pacemaker implanted and diagnosed with multiple cardiac issues, my cardiac team consists of an Electrophysiologist and a regular Cardiologist. I've been having unexplained syncope and my Electrophysiologist wanted me to go get a "Tilt Table Test" done. I found Dr. Akash Makkar, who was the only person in my network of insurance that does this test. I made it clear that I was not looking to replace either one of my cardiac doctors or add him as another, that I just needed an appointment since my Electrophysiologist referred me to get this test done.  Dr. Akash Makkar's office refused to accept any referrals to just complete this testing and stated that I needed to come in for a consultation to see the doctor before they would schedule me for the test. I came in for the consult on May 29,2024 at 1:30 p.m. Dr. Akash Makkar asked me why I needed this test done and I told him I was on Corlanor and Midodrine and still experiencing unexplained syncope with rapid heartrates and therefore my Electrophysiologist wanted me to get this testing done.  I explained to him that was the only reason I was there and the only thing I needed. He then proceeded to tell me I needed to be on another medication in addition to the medications I already take, he prescribed a steroid. He knows absolutely nothing about my medical history or me so I don't understand how he can just prescribe me anything when he isn't even my doctor. Dr. Akash Makkar then called in a Merlin Pacemaker Rep and had him make changes to my pacemaker. I told the rep he was not my doctor, and I did not feel comfortable with them making changes to my device because my Electrophysiologist set those settings and not to change them. He proceeded to do it anyway.  I was not informed by Dr. Akash Makkar what changes were made, and he never informed me that he was going to even make any changes. The rep told me he was told by Dr. Akash Makkar to make changes and the entire time I kept asking the rep not to make changes that Dr. Akash Makkar was not my doctor, he proceeded anyway.  Does it make any sense to make changes to someone's pacemaker (a vital device that keeps someone alive) that you have no medical background on and end up making me feel like I had no say what they did to my device that belongs inside my body. A random doctor that did not implant said device should never be allowed to change settings to a device without prior consent and I never gave Dr. Akash Makkar consent to make any changes to my device. I told them repeatedly that Dr. Akash Makkar was not my doctor and that I did not feel comfortable with any changes being made.  Now I need to go to my Electrophysiologist so he can fix the settings Dr. Akash Makkar changed without consent and with me telling them not to. I have been uncomfortable with whatever settings they changed, so my real doctor will get me in for an emergency appointment to fix what Dr. Akash Makkar did. Since Dr. Akash Makkar's unauthorized settings were set, I have felt miserable, and Dr. Akash Makkar should never be allowed to change settings on a device that he did not implant and on a patient, he knows nothing about. He had zero medical history on me or on my cardiac issues and diagnosis when making these changes to my device that I repeatedly told him not to. Shouldn't I be informed of the changes, none of this sits well with me.  Even my Electrophysiologist is appalled by this behavior and told me to cancel the "Tilt table test" because he doesn't feel comfortable sending me back to Dr. Akash Makkar to even perform the test and nor does he trust Dr. Akash Makkar. Dr. Akash Makkar should be responsible to reimburse me for my emergency appointment to fix the settings he changed against my wishes without my consent, which he never informed me of.

At first I was frustrated not getting answers of why my heart races and how they are going to fix my condition. And after having this loop recorder in nearly 2 years my condition has improved on its own since I don't take the medication they prescribe me. But overall they've done a great job monitoring me which I appreciate.

Had an appointment for 8:30 am, arrived and found out due to the computer switch over that my appointment wasn’t showing. Was given the opportunity to wait but with four or five other patients waiting, we rescheduled.

Dr. Makkar is amazing! I had another EP tell me to stop chasing a diagnosis and refused to help me. Dr Makkar got me in, did an EP study and ablated two arrythmias. His staff was amazing, and the procedure was quick with an easy recovery. I feel so blessed to have someone that listened and was willing to help. A+ experience!
